Dear Parents

Return to School in September

As you may be aware it is the expectation that all schools will re-open to all pupils in September 2020.  Term 1 begins on Monday 7 September 2020.

Hopefully this is another step towards getting back to normal and we are looking forward to welcoming you all back.

It is important that are you aware that from September, Government guidelines state that attendance by all pupils is compulsory and non-attendance will be recorded as an unauthorised absence and may incur a fine.

The re-opening may be subject to change depending on Government guidance.  However, the current information that we are working with is set out below:-


Children will learn within their class bubble but the school will stay in year group bubbles to ensure that the different year groups do not mix.  Staff will remain in their bubble and will not go between classes.  The only staff moving between classrooms each day will be the Senior Leadership Team. Children must be in clean clothes every day.  This does not need to be their school uniform in term 1.  This will be reviewed at the end of the first term.


There will be no assemblies. There will be no after school activity clubs in term 1 (this will be reviewed before the start of term 2).
Fireflies after school childcare from 3.00-6.00pm will be available.  Please contact Emily on 07392 848736 for more information. Breakfast Club will continue but in separate year group bubbles.  Please contact Gill Bradshaw via the school office if you require a place for your child.
There will be staggered break and lunch times for children.  Chartwells will provide packed lunches only which will be eaten in classrooms.  Your child may bring a packed lunch from home if preferred. Unfortunately parents will still not be permitted to enter the building and we are unable to have parent helpers in school during term 1.
Regular thorough cleaning will continue at the end of every school day.


Regular handwashing will continue to be a priority throughout the day.
We will be delivering our Recovery Curriculum ( School staff will not be wearing masks unless needed for first aid purposes.  We do not expect children to wear masks either.
Additional funding will be allocated to the school for catch-up.  Staffing for this is still to be confirmed.



Resources in the classroom will not be shared with other classrooms.  Children in years 1 and 2 will have their own equipment on the table as usual (ie. pencil case).





To reduce congestion on site we will continue to stagger start and finish times.  these will be as follows:-

Children must be brought to school at your allotted time, not earlier or later.  This is to ensure there is no congestion coming on to the school site.  They must also be collected at your allotted time as we have no provision for looking after children beyond 3.00pm when the cleaning starts each day.


Government procedures for any child or adult with symptoms will be as follows:-
‘if anyone in the school becomes unwell with a new, continuous cough or a high temperature, or has a loss of, or change in, their normal sense of taste or smell, they must be sent home and advised to follow the stay at home guidance for households with possible or confirmed coronavirus infection (, which sets out that they must self-isolate for at least seven days and must arrange for a test.  ( to see if they have coronavirus.  Other members of their household (including any siblings) should self-isolate for 14 days from when the symptomatic person first developed symptoms.’

Pirate Week

The children will be enjoying some pirate activities next week and we will be having a pirate dressing up day on Tuesday 14 July if your child would like to dress up!

Foundation Stage Tapestry

Your child’s Learning Journey is now ready for you to download as a PDF file.  Log in as usual and go to the drop down menu in the top right-hand corner.  Select ‘Your downloads’.  Your child’s file will be shown – click on the ‘download’ button and save the PDF document onto a USB stick, your computer hard drive or a cd.  The PDF file will only be available for you to download for a limited time so please do this as soon as possible.  If you have any problems doing this, please email the school office.

PDF files are text files so will obviously not include any videos from your child’s Learning Journey.  Please make sure you have downloaded any videos you would like to keep before your child’s learning journey is no longer available.

Cool Milk

From September, we will no longer be giving the children milk at break time so please do not pay for it online.  The children will be offered milk every lunch time.


If you have any old CDs you no longer need, please bring them to school in September for an art project (there will be a box outside the office entrance to leave them in).  Thank you.

This will be the last newsletter this year and following a few months that nobody could have predicted I hope you have a really lovely summer and I look forward to seeing you all in September.
