The Friends of Motcombe is a registered charity created and led by the parents/guardians of children attending Motcombe School.

We volunteer our time to run a whole host of events to raise funds for equipment, resources and activities to enhance our children’s education. The Friends also aims to bring families together socially in support of the school.

An elected Chair, Treasurer and Company Secretary lead a committee, supported by a wider Friends’ group, on behalf of all members (see below for current details).

All parents and members of the school community are encouraged to get involved, even if you only have a small amount of time available. Getting involved is a great way to meet new people, make friends and have fun. Every contribution makes a real difference.

Events and funds raised
Some of our most popular events are our annual Motcombe Firework Fiesta (November), our Christmas Fair (December) and our Summer Fair (June/July). We also hold a host of smaller events in between, from discos to cake sales. We’re looking to introduce some new events this year and welcome new ideas, provided they’re accompanied by some practical support!

We raise money for the school, helping to fund school trips, forest school days, leavers’ parties and Christmas gifts for every pupil.

Code of Conduct
The Friends aims to respect the school’s ethos when organising events. We have a Code of Conduct that binds all members and describes the importance for all members to conduct themselves ethically and professionally. This runs alongside our Constitution, a legally binding document. In order for the Friends to be successful, it’s essential that members follow these guidelines while acting in association with the Friends. Thanks for your cooperation.

How you can help
There are many ways you can support the school. Whether you volunteer to sell tickets for one of our events, run a stall at one of our fairs, or simply donate a cake (it doesn’t have to be home-made!), every contribution counts. You can join our WhatsApp group to keep in touch and attend meetings (see below).

We are actively seeking match funding from banks and other companies, so please find out if your employers run a match funding scheme.

If you have any contact with local businesses who may be able to donate equipment or support us in other ways please let us know.

Keeping in touch
We hold regular meetings throughout the year to share ideas and plan our fundraising events. We try to hold them at different times of the day and evening, so all members can come along to at least some meetings. Please join us if you can, we’d love to see you.

Look out for updates about our activities and requests in the school’s weekly newsletter.

We mainly keep in touch with members through our Friends’ WhatsApp group. We share updates about forthcoming events, ask for ideas and send call outs for volunteers. If you wish to join the group, please send your name, child’s name and class, and mobile number to motcombefriends@hotmail.com

Additionally, we can be contacted via email. Please note that as we are all volunteers, we may not be able to answer queries quickly, but will do our best to respond to all enquiries.

You can also keep up to date with the latest news by following us on Facebook. Do like and share our posts so that we can reach as many people in the school community as possible.

Please be respectful in all communications and please do not share photos of other people’s children in posts without prior consent. For full details see our Social Media Policy
